Preview - Cappellini, Salone 2014

The Cappellini Salone 2014 preview interprets three different stories that reveal the universe of study and research of Cappellini: Firstly, the production of an art project; secondly the evolution of a product towards a range widening to meet the needs of an increasingly cosmopolitan market; and also the development of a family of products to tell the birth and the growth of a progressive project.

STEEL PIPE - design: Shiro Kuramata, 1968/2014
Benefitting from a ten-year collaboration with the designer and a continuous relationship with the Shiro Kuramata foundation on scholarly research and many projects of the artist/designer, Cappellini developed a new remarkably simple and intuitive object. Designed in 1968, Steel Pipe is a cart where form and function are immediate but distinguished by the refined aesthetic of Shiro Kuramata, with a clear reference to the curves of the chair 'Sofa with arms”. Proposed in the colorings white/black that characterize most of his projects, Steel Pipe has a iron structure epoxy powder coated matte black, white laminate top, cover and chrome wheels in gray plastic.

CAP CHAIR 2 BASSA - design: Jasper Morrison, 2014
A new Jasper Morrison design is introduced at Salone del Mobile 2014 as part of a natural evolution of the "Cap Chair" which was introduced at Salone 2013. "Cap Chair 2” is a leather chair with sides/armrests fully covered and upholstered in leather. A truly tailored product and crafted in an understated design. This new version is lower than the predecessor that had its debut at the imm in Cologne and in Paris in January.
Composed around directional tables lower than the standard height, the “Cap Chair 2” turns the classic meeting room into a meeting lounge. The simplicity of lines and materials make it elegant and classic but contemporary at the same time.

PEG SOFA TABLE - design: Nendo, 2014
The Peg sofa table is a low table designed with clean and accentuated curves and is available in solid ash, natural, walnut, wenge and ebony. The clean and accentuated design makes it look elegant with soft shapes in any setting: all details are finished with round shapes which give the design its characteristics.
The typical leg characteristics of the Peg chair and Peg coffee table will be the key characteristics for future designs in the Peg family of products in the very near future.
