Lorenzo Riva F/W ’09-’10
Milan With confident women, striding the catwalk in red lips and big fringe hairdo’s
the reminisce of the iconic 90’s supermodels was undeniable. Who better to portray the blooming trend of the 90’s, than Lorenzo Riva and his brand: having had both Jerry Hall and Brooke Shields parading his designs in a 90’s Paris
The collection ranged from iconic oversized trench coats, double coloured with quilted insides, moving on to geometrically cut tallieur, in yellow cob tweed, peacock green and rust, for an aristocratic day look. Bright and silk fabric, enhanced by lace and velvet took over with the appearance of the midevening dresses. Interlacing a 50’s nostalgia, with truly feminine
skirt lengths, rose collars and embroidery.
Ending the show with a starry night impression, the evening gown display is a triumph in sophisticated glamour, where the mermaid dresses mesmerized the audience. Followed up by a cascade of models and creations in one big maze as the grand finale, the slight and short confusion did not over shadow, but rather enhance Lorenzo Riva’s successful juxtaposition of controlled asymmetry and innovative nostalgia for fall/winter 2009.
