Milan - “I’m getting married and you are all invited” could have been the theme for the show Frankie Morello put on when presenting the A/W 09-10 women’s collection. Instead of a dark and covered up look suitable for cold winter days, this collection proposes a fun and feisty feeling for the forthcoming fall and winter. The looks are colourful with precious materials like silk, satin and the geometrical shaped angora cape. The mood is joyful and flirting with weddings as well as Bollywood and leaning towards the haute couture look rather than prêt-a-porter.

Cocktail dresses as well as evening gowns are the protagonist in this playful and sometimes ironic collection with fantasy bows, plissé, layers and 60’s prints in various combinations. The silhouette that plays with shape and structure is sometimes very extreme but always sophisticated and feminine, focus lays on hips or shoulders and some looks even resemble the shape of a wedding cake. The pantsuits are more formal but always with an interesting twist in details.

The colour palette is feminine and light, mainly with different shades of pink, from the nude or pink champagne to darker and shocking pink or black and pearl white. High platform shoes in various colours and dresses or skirts are always matched with white stockings.

The red line in the collection is the pearl, a symbol of the bride and is present as details on garments as well as accessories, like big and extreme pearl necklaces or clutches with pearl strings or the bowl shaped pearl handbag.

For the finale Frankie Morello invited us to the wedding reception, which turned into a big party with dancers filling the catwalk and surely continued until the sunrise.
