Indira Cesarine
Indira Cesarine has been working internationally as a fashion and beauty photographer for the past 14 years. She first discovered her love of photography aged 15, while taking a summer school course at Parson’s School of Design in Manhattan. By the time she had graduated high school from Choate Rosemary Hall, aged 18, she had exhibited 4 one-woman shows of her photographic work at the esteemed Paul Mellon Arts Center. While finishing a triple major in Art History, French Literature and Women’s Studies at Columbia University in New York and Paris, France, she began shooting for a variety of top modeling agencies including Elite, Ford, and Wilhelmina Models. Once she finished her degree, she went to London to pursue her interests in photography and journalism. In 1994 she was appointed Editor at Large of the British magazine “Don’t Tell It”, and began shooting editorials for many magazines in England, the US and Europe. She is represented internationally with agents in New York, Paris, London, and Milan.
Her photography has been published in such titles as British Vogue, British GQ, Surface, British Marie Claire, Tatler, Arena, British Esquire, Elle, L’Officiel, Glamour, In Style, The London Times, Oyster, Out, Vogue Bellezza, Votre Beaute and Self magazine. She has worked commercially with clients including Cerutti, Seven Jeans, Christian Dior, Kenzo, Charles Jourdan, Agent Provocateur, Wonderbra, DIM, Next Directory UK, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms, Lord & Taylor, Galleries Lafayette, Debenhams, Littlewoods, Mark’s and Spencer, Nivea, Body Shop, Avon, Boots, and Charles Worthington.
She has photographed celebrities for such titles as In Style, Tatler, and Esquire including Alicia Keys, Collin Farrell, Dakota Fanning, Macy Gray, Amy Winehouse, Carole Boquet, Anna Paquin, Will Young and Jimmy Fallon among many others. She also collaborates with record labels such as Sony BMG, Jive Records and Virgin Records.
As of January 2008, aside from her photographic work, she has been appointed Fashion Editor at Large of Lush Magazine. She has also starting working as a director, having co-written and directed her first short film, “City of Love” in 2007. She is currently represented by Fulldawa Films in Paris, France as a director for commercials and shorts.
Indira and her work have been featured internationally on TV shows such as VH1 Fashion TV, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, HBO’s Special “Ford Supermodel of the World”, “Make me a Supermodel” and MTV.
Indira Cesarine was born in 1971 in Sioux City, Iowa, and has always been inspired by her mother who is a Mexican-American Civil Rights lawyer, Gloria Martinez-Senftner. Her mother named her Indira Cesarine Xanthe Elizabeth Aspasia after women that inspired her throughout history.
