Iceberg s/s 2010
Iceberg’s way of doing the spring and summer of next year didn’t really shake the ground of my feet, to be totally honest. At the first sight, you could by some reasons even forget the fact that this was clothes made for the spring and not fall. My reason for that: let’s begin with the colors. Very dark, and their love for this darker forest shade of green didn’t manage to convince me, at all. Olive doesn’t bring memories back of summer to me. But the clean lines of the olive safari part does get a favourable feature in this collection. All because of the cut. The leopard printed camouflage dresses felt very cool and very much Iceberg too.
The designers way to go against the rules and what the crowd was expecting to see, makes me want to give out some extra credit as well. For me to see hard leather pieces in black feels very odd. Not only have it been done a few seasons now, but for personal reasons I am again, not very convinced. Mickey Mouse on Safari was the main theme of the show, and I did kind of like the quirkiness and attitude of it. It appeared on loosely knit sweaters moreover on the sides of the skirt. The mouse ear shoulders on cots brought back memories of Dolce & Gabbana’s creations a year ago. By ending my review with this, I hope Iceberg finds more unique ideas for next season.
