As the curtain falls on one of the most beautiful shows in the last decades, Lee Alexander McQueen was found dead yesterday in his apartment in Green Park, London. The family has asked for privacy while dealing with the shock and grief for the late designer rumored to have committed suicide.

McQueen started his career in Savile Row at the age of 16, where he developed the art of tailoring. After a short period in Milan at Romeo Gigli, he moved back to London where he taught pattern making and and received his degree in Fashion Design at the prestigious Central Saint Martins. His entire graduation collection was bought by influential british fashion stylist Isabella Blow, who then became an important part of his life. In 1996 he debuted at Givenchy, succeeding John Galliano, but after 5 controversial years he left the maison, too constraining for his creativity. In the 2000s he worked exclusively for his eponymous label, writing a new chapter in fashion history with his eccentric creations and impeccable tailoring giving the world a new sensitivity.

I would like to remember UK’s most influential fashion designer and four-time British designer of the year winner with photos of some of his most beautiful and influential catwalk looks, each representing the different contrasting characteristics of the enfant terrible of fashion: romantic, dark, genial, dramatic and creative.
