Ermanno Scervino spring 2011
Ermanno Scervino’s spring 2011 show was not only the closing show of fashion week, but also one of the more memorable. Scervino, celebrating the man, his style and his ideas proves him to be one of the better designers that are made in Italy. He gives us new views and ideas on men’s fashion, managing at the same time to keep up with the signature Scervino style. He continually brings us new things and without becoming boring. The clothes on show were relaxed, slightly preppy sportswear with a hint of a scandinavian-italian style blend.
V-neck t-shirts, blazers and shorts were layered together for that effortless look, while short rolled-up shorts were teamed with tailored pieces and bare abs for a sexier look. Double-breasted jackets, the man bag and cool boots were details that caught our attention. The boyfriend jeans have been taken back from the girls wardrobe. Ripped details and bleached to perfection, they were teamed with amazing blazers to create a nice balance. Colors are out this season, as we saw the entire show play through in earthy shades and nuances. Army green, navy, beige, black, grey and white were the perfect way to make everything from the collection work together.
I loved the fact that everything was very wearable and the styling was as close to perfection as it could get. Scervino has proved that a collection doesn’t have to be crazy or filled with new innovative designs to be loved by the public. The combination of elegant simplicity, a little bit of street, and perfect cuts are just the main ingredients for a great collection. Well done!
