Iceberg s/s 2011 Milan

In contrast with last season, a very resort collection, thought for a woman who likes to travel, took place at Iceberg the sixth day of Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by blonde muses, such as Farrah Fawcett, Lauren Hutton and Faye Dunaway, the show was a fresh take on the seventies.

Although there were prints, jumpsuits and A-line dresses, the inspiration didn’t translate too literal. The oversize men’s blazers with pushed-up sleeves and a faded denim parka over 5.5 inch heels set the mood.

Menswear elements met a strong femininity: beautifully side-draped skirts mixed with mannish shirts and double-breasted coats tamed the vertical slits. The palette – executed in denim, silk, leather and jersey – was pretty neutral with some splashes of acrylic colors.

In the last part of the défilé, gem and sequin encrusted knitwear and beaded and feathered macramé separates found a place, but what really made this collection were the most simple outfits and the beautiful “mariner” accessories: ropes that took shape of knots around neck and wrists and wrapped around the ankles from leather sandals bringing that effortless Italian glamour.
