Krizia s/s 2011 Milan
As the lights drew to the stage all eyes went to the runway. Out filed a conspicuous striking collection by Krizia for Spring/Summer 2011 women’s fashion week in Milan. The taste was distinctly 3-dimensional, partially inspired by Zaha Hadid’s avant-garde architectural designs. The theme was fluctuation, malleable surfaces and fluid, dynamic shapes.
And what a great mix of elements did she deliver! Starting off the show with series of monotones resembling wet and dry sand, mud, stone colors made in exquisite cotton, elasticized satin and lurex silk.We saw a reminiscence of passionate energy on the runway with coccoon-esque, dramatically ruffled dresses and a knitted jumpsuit with a crocodile print. An alternation of black and white in super chic black and white evening dresses. Tailored petal-folded shorts and trousers shined with the grace of a sophisticated woman. One was reminded of origami and Japanese crafting, viewing jackets and mini dresses with open pleated bodices.
Adding excitement to her impeccable sculptural collection was Mariuccia Mandelli’s series of monochrome bright green and magenta metallic cocktail gowns and evening dresses. A sure show stopper. As if candy wrappers, the one-shoulder and one-sleeve dresses with wavy vertical panels were a pure delight for a woman with a little flash. Truly a feminine touch to a trendsetting show.
