Corazon Del Alma s/s 2011 Tokyo

After an extremely hectic period for the European fashion stage, the spot light moves to a more exotic place, Tokyo, for the Japan Fashion Week. This year’s special attention is being paid to men’s fashion and emerging designers. Keep your creative eyes wide open to identify Japanese designers` acute attention to detail and extremely innovative pieces.

One of the figures who drew attention was Nobuhide Koi ,who previously worked as a designer for international houses such as Prada and Versace. He returned home and worked as a creative director for an apparel company, but later decided to start his own brand, Corazon Del Alma. The new daring project was launched in the spring/summer of 2007 and now, after four years, he offers us a mature, elaborate collection using unique motifs inspired by nature and space.

The pieces are represented by a feminine allure with simple, clear cuts and mostly neutral colors. The designer has chosen for the dresses of his collection a lot of fluid fabrics that fall perfectly on a woman’s body and move exactly the way she does, emphasizing her gestures and revealing personality. To these, Nobuhide attached unique prints inspired by nature and the cosmos with a slightly a wider palette of colors. The more structured pieces lean towards a minimalistic approach, but their simplicity is not in the range of austerity is more of a trial of achieving perfection (the Japanese way). This idea is strongly supported by the presence of different shades of white, which send our thoughts to purity, as a certain state or quality of women.

Overall his new collection can be described as fusion of bold and delicate, an antithesis between black and white, embodying craftsmanship and prints in the sensitivity of modern Japanese culture.
