Moon Young Hee s/s 2011 Paris
Moon Young Hee presented a decisively sensual collection at for her Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris fashion week. Maintaining hints of her ballerina themes from her Autumn/Winter collection, Moon young took an edgier turn by adding a darker romantic feeling. Conjuring the notion of a fairytale, a beloved ballerina became modern.
Best known for her talent as a master tailor, the designer delivered her best in the form of intricate crafting, avant-garde draping by sheer fabrics and lace! The models’ hair was often half, or fully off the face, but formally styled, dripping with romantic waves. They walked in dresses of earthen hues and neutral colors of white, pale brown, gray, pastels with black and deep sea blue. The color scheme was much of the trend that we’ve seen this season..
Moon Young’s vision of creating ethereal, deconstructed pieces was very visible in this collection. Elegant deep blue and red dresses with see-through cutouts and crafting, emulated the idea of tropical leaves. A serene side of nature was captured. The voluminous dresses with multiple layers of petal-shaped draping, contrasted the splendor of the futuristic mini dresses. A seeming princess of romance was unveiled with the exceptionally draped black dress that ended the show. One couldn‘t keep one’s eyes off the abstract dresses, trying always to solve the puzzle behind the crafting. And a beautiful puzzle it was!
