Le Royal Monceau by Philippe Starck
There is a reason Paris is the most magical city in the world. Its flamboyant and glamorous. Its also romantic and chic, and it feels like the whole city is in love. With each other. And fashion. And art. And everything in between.
Its no wonder that international hotel hotspot – Le Royal Monceau – feels like a 2010 fairytale. The hotel looks like the lovechild of a fantasy castle and a contemporary art gallery. Designer Phillippe Starck makes a grand impact with his art-deco interiors , each piece and detail is artsy and unique.
The 2010 summer opening of the newly renovated Le Royal Monceau has been much anticipated since its highly publicized ‘Demolition Party’ in June 2008. ‘The Demolition Party’ was an artistic feat- a huge party organized by the hotel to celebrate the beginning of its construction and renovation – showcasing live music performances, displays of performance art and movie screenings to almost 1500 people.
The rooms and suites are a visual treat – they’re indulgence and luxury presented with perfection. Everything feels like art. Everything. From the individualistic furniture to the wall hangings, they’re all masterpieces in their own right.
And what is art without music? Not only is there a guitar in every room, Le Royal Monceau has a portable recording studio for anyone who feels a little creative on the premises.
Food. No playground for the rich and artsy could be complete without it. There are exquisite Italian and French restaurants and two trendy, hip bars. Not to mention a cigar bar. Their decors are fun and inviting, the presentation impeccable and the food and cocktails are said to be – well, its Paris afterall – perfect.
The newly renovated hotel has 150 rooms, including 54 suites and 10 prestige apartments in the neighbouring, attached building. There is also an art bookshop, an art gallery – Art District, a 1500 sq mts spa – The Spa MY Blend by Clairins, a 26 mts long pool, vast gardens, and a movie theatre.
The hotel has been home to a wide array of well known celebrities including Madonna, Michael Jackson, Winston Churchill, Ho Chi Minh, Coco Chanel and Walt Disney, just to name a few.
The hotel is so rad, it even has its own blog. Artforbreakfast is a all things art served straight up – whether it be the latest in theatre, architecture, books or artists. Its everything the hotel incorporates into its own vibe.
Le Royal Monceau has an energetic, powerful and chic style.
Inside, art and grandeur fall in love. Parisian style.
