Bruno Sabastia
When Fuji Films wanted to test their latest films, for a live press conference, they chose Bruno Senastia to shoot a series of beauty in Paris.
For Bruno, this came as an undeniable recognition of his talent as a beauty photographer.
Bruno Sebastia started his photographic journey twenty years ago, with the acquistition of a second-hand Olympus OM 10 and a 135mm lens. He began by freelancing in his home city of Montpellier, shooting architecture and for commercial advertising clients. This led him to accept a proposition to set up a store called Shop Photo in Nice.
But his artistic ambitions pulled him to take his chances in the fashion capital of the world and in 1995 he set off for Paris, where he accumulated a variety of experiences from barman to chauffeur to make ends meet while pursuing his greatest passion, beauty. Whilst assisting photographers, such as Jean Larivière, he perfected his technique in the studio and further developed his style. Very quickly he was in demand with the most prestigious clients such as Rochas, L’Oreàl, La Colline, Scherrer, Guerlain, Fujifilm, Adidas, Vogue and Harpers Basar, to name but a few.
All are seduced by his vision of feminine sensuality expressed by sculptural manipulation of light and almost touchable skin tones, whilst
placing the product as star. Besides his numerous commercial and editorial commands, he continues to pursue personal projects, preparing a commissioned exhibition. For Bruno “beauty is more just a facade: every woman has an inner beauty that is essential for me to bring to light. It might be just a question of a few millimeters or a moment in time… when I photograph a model I wait for her to show me that part of her inner self and then I shoot.”
