Family House in Pozuelo de Alarcón by A-cero
A-cero began its journey in 1996 under the stewardship of J. Torres. Till date the studio remains to be selective in its approach but has decided to not fall into a typecast of property developers. A quick browse of their website will show an exponential increase in the number and types of projects they are involved with. The bottom line and the foundation of their recent success lie in their ability to keep simplicity at the heart of each project. This is especially true in this particular family house that is yet to be christened. It lays its foundations on a slopped plot of 1368 meters squared in the upscale suburbs of Madrid, Spain.
The house boasts all the modern amenities that one may expect in a luxury home of the 21st Century. In addition to the standard living quarters the property boasts a cinema, massage room both an outdoor and indoor pool, Jacuzzis and a wine cellar. But the defining factors of this project lay in the design. For the exterior, it utilizes flat planes that are adjoined in a manner that is suggestive of an artistic sculpture. With close inspection one will find that there are subtle gradients implemented across the various planes that are intermittently broken with large expanses of glass that sit further into the structure to laminate the interiors with natural light.
The interior design follows the minimal suit that is adopted for the exterior. The repeated use of beige marble artificially expands the already generous open spaces within the house. A-cero which was also responsible for the interiors utilized flashes of colour and furniture that were very much in line with the modern look they were hoping to attain. The result is a spacious dwelling place that boasts much more room than one may perceive at first, all in an encasing of simplicity and modernity.
