Katya Shehurina

Eastern Europe was never known for the fashion potential, but gladly things are changing. New, talented designers arise and Katya Shehurina is one of those who promise to make a change in our perception.

Originally based in Riga, she graduated from ESOMD, the prestigious fashion design school in Paris. In the aftermath of this, she became assistant of  Nicolas Faffiotte  and David Purves, the well known French designers. Being specialized in haute couture and with already profound understanding of design matters, in 2007 she started developing her own brand.

Every year, Katya presents to the fashion thirsty public two seasonal collections, very much appreciated in her home country. She gained the love of the Russian audience by participating in the Saint Petersburg Fashion Week, attracting unexpected opportunities. As a consequence, Katyakatya Shehurina brand is sold in shops, along with the most popular fashion names, in the cultural capital of Russia. Dubai and Kuwait are among the other cities where you can find her spectacular creations.

Her collections, a feast to the eye, emanate feminine exuberance and a lot of grace. Although very extravagant, the designer likes to remain in the lines of coziness, creating clothes that are deemed to be worn off the runway. In Katya’s vision a woman should be bright, charming, playful but also vulnerable and sensitive, all wrapped in a scent of mystery.  To achieve this she plays with different fabrics and colors, keeping some key elements that she uses as signatures in most of her collections. There is always white, the purity revealer, but also seductive lace as a decorative element. The strong electric colors, such as fuchsia or bleu royal, bring out the child in every woman. Exuberance is portrayed sometimes through jewelry, flower details, large ruffles, or other times through baroque elements.

Never afraid to experiment, starting from plain black, moving to flaming red, turning to a touch of animal print and combining her graceful dresses with sexy stockings, this designer attracts by her overwhelming power. Unpredictable and free, her creations will be well etched in our memory.
