Valentino for GAP
Gap opened their first store in Italy. The three-floor store on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Milan’s trendiest fashion district, offers all of Gap’s collections. From babygap and GapKids to GapBody and GapMaternity, there is something for everyone. Soon to open next door is a Banana Republic flagship and President of Gap Inc. Europe and Strategic Alliances, Stephen Sunnucks, is sure the brand’s “affordable luxury designs will be well received by Italian customers”.
But how did Milan make up for being behind in the game? And how did the Gap flagship opening make fashion news all over the world? Gap introduced a 7-piece Valentino line, of course. The line, which will only be sold in stores in Europe, embodies Valentino’s style perfectly – complete with his vintage ruffles and bows. Valentino chose heavyweight khaki cotton for a tie up shrug, short and long hooded jackets, a high-waisted 3- layer skirt, and cargo pants with ruffled pockets. The collection also included a t-shirt with an oversized bow and a hoodie with ruffles, representing trademark Gap attire without losing Valentino’s signature style.
Gap plans to expand to Rome and if their success continues, Germany and Spain could be next!
