Established in 2001, skram furniture company designs and fabricates modern furnishings for residential, commercial, and hospitality markets.  Featuring the designs of jacob marks, skram furniture is dedicated to redefining american craft in the context of modern design.

Known for extraordinary workmanship and spare but approachable design, skram furniture is functionally-tuned and well-suited to a range of environments.  Their products are intended for an audience that values the company’s commitment to authentic materials, innovative design, and sustainable practices.

Skram is based in hillsborough, north carolina, a colonial town in the state’s piedmont region.  Their 17,000 square foot main manufacturing facility—located in a former cotton mill—is organized to permit the efficient manufacture of its products.  Most of skram’s existing collection can be modified in material, scale, or configuration to accommodate specific needs.  The company welcomes requests for original custom designs.

The designer Jacob Marks

Recently named one of the top 50 young designers of the americas (Young Designers: Americas, Daab, 2006), jacob marks’ work is rooted in a philosophy that argues for the inextricability of good design and fine workmanship. A self-taught furniture maker and designer, marks’ furnishings exhibit uncompromising technical mastery, and a distinctive austerity and warmth that speaks to his desire to create objects of enduring value.
