Antonio Berardi F/W 2011 London
Antonio Berardi finally experimented more on daywear, managing to deliver luxurious clothes with a young and relaxed sense of fashion. His Fall/Winter 2012 seems to be a soft take on rockabilly with oversized lapels inspired by the biker look and boyfriend jackets slightly off the shoulders.
The must looks are to be found in the outerwear, with geometrical cuts and a fun variety of collars, which are often doubled creating a layering effect, like the folded miniskirts, that enriches the clean silhouettes.
The ability of the designer of playing with fabrics translated in this collection in a good match of silks and wools with perforated technical fabrics, making the risky total white unexpected, interesting and modern.
As the white turns into gray and black, the daywear welcomes some sexy evening wear with the typical corset cuts for which Berardi is famous for. Unfortunately, the sophistication achieved in the first part of the collection is drastically interrupted by a quite incoherent mix of lurex gowns and revealing lace cocktail dresses or, worse, the super trendy stud-covered cape and jacket for fashionistas.
