Erkan Çoruh

Alta Roma Alta Moda was opened with Erkan Coruh, emerging designer, winner of the “who’s on next?” of last year. Erkan shields his women with dresses similar to armours, as new armours in-fact; he urges them to be warriors  but with absolute style. His women wear the “scalp” of their war, the weapons of courage, the elegance of contemporary. Inspired by a model of enterprising and brave woman, Erkan doesn’t  give up to dress the woman as a woman. The bon-ton style, for a triumph, won with character. After the success for the last collection “Shirin”, the title for the new one is “Departure”.

The fashion show features approximately twenty pieces, whose common colors are blacks – tone sur tone-  grey and metal blue. The jackets, the bustiers, the long sheath dresses, play the severity of the “total black” with geometric cut between eyelets and laces. Horsehair is used to mark the slim waistline, the pocket and the stitching. The skinny pants, the shoes with high plateau, and the “dangerous” accessories complete like a final touch to the look. This way Erkan prepares his women and invites them to a new….. “Departure”…..

- What kind of soul is dressed by Erkan?

A soul that’s a bit angry, with a simple yet always feminine elegance.

- The link with the history is very important to you. This work seems to be pervaded with references from the history (from medieval armour to Caravaggio). What references – from the past – are useful to understand the future?

Elegance and beauty – which need to be reinterpreted -  are blending with a bit of irony.

- What kind of materials do you prefer to use?

A fine wool, a blend of silk blend….. traditional materials.

- Who are the “muses”of the new collection?

All strong, courageous women. A good example, my mother for sure.

- what is your favourite piece of the new collection?

Everyone, in every piece there was a thrill an idea and a lot of work, so every piece has a soul, so I love them all.

-Last question … Do you feel satisfied?

I fell very excited, it is hard to explain: it is a mixture of happiness and hope.
