Wayne F/W 2011 New York

Wayne Lee, Vietnam born designer, moved to the U.S. at an early age, starting her full time career in 2007. Since then, her collections reflect a dualism of different stages expressed by a constant balance in between: classic and modern, bold and subtle, delicate and defiant.

Lee’s latest collection was a definite success characterized by several elements. We identify leather as a proffered material perfectly complemented by decorative zippers that add this edgy rock feeling to the second skin.  The slightly oversized silhouettes are the result of the multi layering approach that is followed. Black, white and tobacco brown are the primer colors, accompanied by flashes of coral red that brightens up the whole picture. The asymmetry is better emphasized with the choice of midi and maxi lengths, decision that doesn’t fight the feminine touch of the pieces.

The wide range of fabrics varies from soft, fluid such as silk and satin to more rugged ones such as wool, leather and nylon. Jersey socks, panty hoses, suede ankle-boots with plateau and some necklaces perfectly accessorize the collection.

After this successful work, we are definitely eager to see more from this upcoming designer that promises not to disappoint.
