Lanvin F/W 2011 Paris
Alber Elbaz, Lanvin’s designer sets the mood on the catwalk, this time something like an old Hollywood movie, some mystery, intrigue, all wrapped in a perfect fashion drama.
The film begins on an austere tone, simple silhouettes, graphic designs and dark colors, but the scenario definitely has a happy ending.
In the typical style of the house, this collection can be easily defined as luxurious.
Another word that can sum up theses amazing pieces is “short”: straight coats closed with zippers, tunics, poncho style coats and skirts, all reviling the beautiful long legs of the models walking the runway. On the other side, huge dramatic hats, that were covering their eyes and splashing mystery in the air. The whole atmosphere was supported by the dark colors used: black, brown and anthracite.
Afterwards, the scene changes completely to a paradise of femininity, in crescendo, elegance is flowing, volumes are brought back once again, and dresses, just like flowers, start to bloom. Chiffon veils, ruffles; a cocktail of color explodes on the catwalk, still in the most sensitive and seductive way possible. The shades that Alber uses remind us of the Parisian macaroons, having the same delicate features.
A lot of focus on specific areas: accentuated and shaped necklines and oversized metal accessorize, mainly crystal necklaces. The upper part of the body was also celebrated but the magnificent headpieces and hats.
Among the expensive fabrics used, we can find: lace, gauze, grain de paudre and fur. Prints were also present, few dots and flowers to keep our imagination going and our eyes contempt.
All in all, Paris fashion week, brought another show, full of glamour and very sophisticated, to the fashion thirsty public.
