Moschino F/W 2011 Milan
During this chaotic, busy week in Milan we definitely needed a bit of discipline.
Moschino, surprised us with its modern uniforms and commanded the new trends for A/W 2011-2012.
The main inspiration was the Navy, especially taking into consideration the colors used.
Despite this, not for a moment did they forget it was women wear we’re talking about, so, they illuminated everything with golden touches. The collection as a whole relied heavily on jackets, tuxedos, trench coats and suits giving it a very masculine approach.
However, the feminine side was perfectly revealed by delicate embroidery, gold accessories, flower appliqués and smooth gloves.
Grace and glamour can not be left aside so, our eyes were delighted with long satin gowns and Audrey Hepburn cocktail dresses that never go out of fashion.
The emblematic Moschino colors: red, white and black were complemented by gold, beige, silver and pastel pink. Lurex and lamé were the surprise elements and were featured in several pieces, along with other sparkling fabrics such as metallic tweed an metallic sheepskin.
For the fluid silhouettes, satin is always a great choice, but for the straight or mermaid shapes there was a need for taffeta and woolen cloth.
The brand’s signature golden hoop earrings shined on the catwalk along with the officer hats and retro sunglasses. Other accessories that drew the attention were jewel pins, feather headgears and the elegant leather gloves.
All wrapped into one, this collection can be summed up in elegance and opulence, with a side of “look at me” accessories. ‘The bigger, the better’ philosophy works well in this case and the sparkle was just enough to transform the rigidness of the typical uniform into a new season must have.
