Tom Rebl F/W 2011 Riga

Turning heads designer Tom Rebl embraces the next fall winter season with a touch of surrealism and an unfailing veil of sarcasm and nonconformity. In this newshocking radiance, presented on the last day of Riga Fashion Week and inspired to the paranormal and often distorted world of the outsiders and comedians of the Vaudeville and burlesque circus, the imperfect is perfect, the ugly is beautiful, casual is elegance and what was hidden is now well flaunted.

No rules. What was short is long: the elongated dress shirt peeps out from a short cut waistcoat. The palette is dark, the attention to details and textures an obsession: the rock and grunge London attitude of this Central St. Martins son slides fluent on leather, chains, velvet, denim, cotton, wool, silk and zips.

Rebel and rebellious: clear pieces emerge in the form of long silhouettes, sketched out by the straight and narrow lines of bold masculine jackets, white collars often disturbed and interrupted by half-naked looks and dark skirts.

A dress that deserves to be lived, an extension of one’s personality and soul. Icing on the cake of the whole parade, supermodel Papis Loveday showing up and fooling around on the catwalk. What shall I say? Parfait!
