O Watch by Tokujin Yoshioka
Looking from the first sight on the new Tokujin Yoshioka’s eclectic creation – O watch, one may not recognize the transparent band seeing only the time. The concept of this design as well as its name “O Watch” is connected with Eau that mean water in French. Looking closer the band seems to disseminate around bearer’s wrist leaving only the time noticeable.
The idea of Eastern minimalism occurs in one’s mind glancing at “O watch” and, indeed, it was created by prominent Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka for Issey Miyake watch line and manufactured by Seiko. Actually, Tokujin Yoshioka and Issey Miyake have there own design studio – Tokujin Yoshioka Design that was established in 2000 in Tokyo. Worth saying that design works of Tokujin Yoshioka have been perceived as pieces of art and we do not have doubts in it looking at O Watch.
O Watch was presented in Basel World in Switzerland in last March, one of the most important events for watch and jewelry manufacturers. The watch was launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary Issey Miyake watch project and will be released for public in July 2011.
