Xampagne

Distinguished and glamorous like the drink itself, Xampagne embodies the true essence of modern Japanese chic functionality in clothes. The brands’ refreshing collections are quintessentially the harmonization of casual comfort and oriental glamour. With each passing season, each single creation continuously delights us with the use of rich European textiles and original fabrics to evoke a different perspective of the collection.

The artistic master mind behind this blooming brand is Takahiro Gonno, born in Tokyo in 1978. After commencing and enhancing his career at a major denim brand, he established Xampagne and presented his first collection, the 2008/2009 AW which already started raising eyebrows at home.

This years’ 2011/2012 AW collection features the simple, yet elegant, traditional Japanese craft of braid-making: Kumihimo. Intricate graphical designs are created by interweaving different numbers of strands, enhancing the simple, yet bold outlines of each original piece.

All the fabrics used to construct the suits are imported from an Italian textile company, whilst the finished pieces are delicately sewn and completed with Japanese sensitivity and precision. Furthermore, the remarkable denim items are completely handcrafted by skilled craftsmen which have perfected a unique technique pinned by Xampagne as ‘Denim Couture’. The technique involves making the denim ‘pop out’ as if it were gaining a third dimension, giving it an exotic braided effect. These alluring braids accentuate the true feel of the collection, once again by interlacing the two opposing senses of simplicity and dazzle into elegantly modern attire.

The collection encompasses solid blacks, boundless blues and confident reds as its common tints, frequently accented with flushes of camel, olive and red to add to its intriguing and mysterious feel. It is also sparkled with unique, top of the line accessories: the neckties and bow-ties featured are created from carefully selected original textiles, and the shoes and booties give prominence to eternally chic and avantgarde styles, including cheeky sassy fur trimmings and crocodile skin patterns.

Xampagne has demonstrated to be a refreshing and delightful surprise from the far east: slowly releasing its gentle cooling effects on style thirsty fashionistas around the world, sip after sip.
