Irina Schrotter

For the first time ever the Romanian fashion was represented by six talented designers in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January. Among these Irina Schrotter was there to present her FW 2011 collection, from glamorous dresses to Ready-to-wear the focal point of her fashion is femininity.  In contrast with Schrotter’s  SS2011 collection, where designs were mostly made out of organza, china silk and charmeuse, here leather and cashmere ruled the roost. Bright colours such as pinks, oranges and blues left the spot to deep black and crème white. Ankle boots and platforms succeed to high knee suede boots and sandals. The key points of this collection involve urban and geometrical shapes, deconstruction and lace. Even if Romanian fashion has a recent history, Schrotter collection was a long way from being old-fashioned with her flapper-style and fluid designs.

The designer, native of Iasi, before entering the fashion world, graduated in Medicine and Pharmacy. At the end of the ‘90s, Schrotter organized for the first time what we call now the Romanian Fashion Week. 2001 was a life changing year for Irina, in fact she had the opportunity to convey her creations to a broader market. Indeed, she participated to the “Prêt-à-Porter Paris” show room. Today the “Irina Schrotter” trademark is sold in 15 Countries including America, England, France and Italy.
