Shift by Jimmy Yuan

Jimmy Yuan’s latest movie image work, SHIFT, is a jaw-dropping, experimental visual piece of art.
Influenced by the characters of the Peking Opera and Dali-inspired surrealism, SHIFT gives us a projection of colors, shapes and music to bring homage to and a proposal for admiration of ancient Chinese traditional culture.

The culture shock deriving from the two completely distinct societies and civilizations gives us an abstract, and truly striking, visual piece.
From the moment David Kamps deep musical composition begins, we enter a hypnagogic landscape which oscillates like a maritime dwelling – defing the laws of physics. The seemingly white terrain, in contrast to a dark gray setting, captures our attention before Yuan shocks us with his graphical masterpieces and representations of the theatrical masks, characters of Chinese theatre.

The artist, Jimmy Yuan, a design director and co-founder of Mirari & Co., is based in Sydney, Australia. He has already reached a global influence designing moving image works for MTV, BMW, Hewlett Packard and Coca-Cola -some of which you may have already seen. His innovative approach to media graphics has already been highlighted with major international exihibitions. His work and creativity certainly are a platform of inspiration for many graphical artists around the world.
