L’Operà Restaurant
Located in one of the most famous neighborhoods of Paris, L’Operà Restaurant is the magnificent result of the work of the Parisian architect studio “Odile Decq Benoit Cornette: architects urbanistes”.
The idea of the project was born a long time ago, in 1875, when Charles Garniér expressed his willingness to open a restaurant inside the Operà, in the rotunda “ du Glacier”, where it is possible to admire the amazing ceiling painted by Clairin. After 136 years of waiting and two failed attempts, respectively in 1973 and 1992, the desire of Charles Garniér is finally realized with this project that lasted three years and cost about six million Euros.
The space is a perfect encounter between new and old, an impeccable combination of modern and neo-baroque style, of which the building is permeated. Surrounded by a spectacular glass curtain wall which preserve the original stone, the restaurant is developed on two level, thanks to a curved white structure which is simultaneously the ceiling for the ground floor and the base for the first level. This structure serves also as part of the seating on the first floor and its dynamic form together with the interplay of red and white colors contribute to give a contemporary and sleek edge to the space.
