Filipe Faisca ModaLisboa 2011
Filipe Faisca has just what it takes to offer a diverse wardrobe suitable for any occasion. As a fashion student he graduated in 1889. Originally born in Africa, he is inspired by his surroundings: Any influence, if movie or a person just walking by, he tries to translate into his fashion. At the Lisbon Fashion Week 2011 he delights us with the new Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Following the black-and-white-based show opening, colorful pieces dominate the catwalk. Nevertheless black highlights in detail and pattern fade slowly and keep coming back within later creations. From employing color contrasts and touching almost every bit of the color palette throughout the collection to combinations where colors just differ in nuance, diversity is definitely not missing.
Light dresses are what the women of 2012 will wear: from the mini to the cocktail dress, to the short sleeved sack dress, the sporty oversize shirt dress with overly long sleeves and finally the super elegant long draped evening dress in bronze; with mainly round necks but also satin bow collars or waterfall cleavage as highlights. Now and then an elegant blazer-skirt combination in beige catches our eye as well as a beautiful yellow pastel sack skirt combined with a plain shirt in soft purple allowing for a perfect transition to the fresh yellow-purple flower dresses up next. From this paradise lovebird look we are slowly taken to the seductive devil dresses in red and black.
Overall it is difficult to decide if black is a color of contrast of harmony when admiring the 1940 style 2-piece set of lingerie with an haute-couture-like pattern in black. The panties visually prolong the legs and put emphasize on the hips. This idea is repeated in a couple of outfits “accessorized” with belts at waist focusing on the woman’s curves.
Filipe Faisca obviously contributes to the “Moda Lisboa” in a beautifully unique way.
