18 Kowloon East by Aedas

Aedeas is a design-led architecture practice with the aim of blending international design quality together with the attention for local needs, a strategy that is possible thanks to their 31 offices around the world.

The Aedas global network provides, in fact, consultancy services in architecture, interior design, masterplanning, landscape, urban design and building consultancy in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. They have recently completed “18 kowloon east”, a building of 28 floors located in the industrial district of Kowloon, China. The structure has a mixed use, being composed by offices, apartments and commercial spaces.

The lower floors are used as a parking, externally covered by plants, which are cleaning the air inside, allowing users to have a more pleasant experience, and creating an innovative solution to add green at the street level of the former manufacturing area. The “green theme” perfectly explains and summary the concept of sustainability at the roots of the project: it improves, in fact, the quality of the natural and built environment in the long term, bringing new energies to the process of rejuvenation through which the area is going, but without dramatically changing its identity.
