Klassiker chair by Minwoo Lee
South Korean designer, Minwoo Lee, designs the Klassiker chair in an effort to combine welcoming soft lines and comfort in one piece of furniture.
Even before commencing this project, Lee observed people’s habits and posture on chairs. His observations took him to the design of a minimalist structure composed of a rounded wooden backrest and seat, with low legs for support. The chair’s acutely classical touch is emphasized by the sleek oiled finish which also compliments the overall architectural aesthetic of the clean lines. The combination of the high back with a low levelled base eventuate the comfort given by this chair along with its initial coup d’oeil.

One of the challenges the designer faced whilst constructing the furniture was to ascertain complete comfort – above all, no pain in problematic areas like the neck and back.
Lee’s philosophy behind this design is the interaction between our physical selves and the chair, ‘the more chairs are touched by hands, the more our bodies will remember its structure’. Over time, the memorable feel of the chair will form an almost natural connection with its user.
Although this is Lee’s first successful attempt at a lounge chair, the Klassiker Chair cradles the chief motif’s set by its designer: aesthetically beautiful, comforting, durable and elegant furniture.
