Pitched Roof House by Chenchow Little
The practice, formed by Tony Chenchow and Stephanie Little, work with a small team of architects, interior architects and designers. In the Pitched Roof House, they have succeeded in bringing creativity and design, considering the very strict building guidelines of the municipality, which requested pitched roof and several other requirements, and the client needs of having a building able to offer views on the surrounding landscape. Triangular geometry becomes the key to address both needs, starting by the reinterpretation of a pitched roof, where we find two series of triangles inverted to form the roof, passing to the repeated use of it in the façade and in the openings toward the panorama.
The rooms are carefully located in the structure to maximize the usage of sunlight. The living rooms are, in fact, located on the top floor to exploit the amazing union offered by the modern shapes created by the unconventional roof, together with the landscape and sunlight, while bedrooms are on the lower part of the house, where solar access is compromised by neighboring houses.
The interior decor is minimalistic to underline the interior architecture and the walls are finished with stone and white paint, with black lines around the angles to highlight the zigzagging design.
