Rad Hourani

Ready-to-wear fashion that can be worn by anyone at any time, this is the thought behind Rad Hourani’s unisex unseasonal label, established in Paris ‘07. His very own “no-background background” is the designer’s very inspiration. With no influence from teachers, parents or any boundary-setters at all, his fashion is timeless and discrete and far away from having roots in tradition or places, despite Hourani’s experience with life in several parts of the globe.

“Rad Hourani” and “Rad by Rad Hourani” are the 2 collections, produced in Canada, which can be found in the very same store with the sense of offering a broader variety. As his collections have no seasonal basis, we orientate ourselves through simple numbering. Looking through “Rad Hourani”-collections #5 through #8 we do see a gradual pattern and development: from all black mini-length coats, dresses and skirts matched with various types of tights and leggings to black and white combinations in #6; this time with a heavier trend towards asymmetric pieces and unequal length-levels playfully adopted within each look. #7 employs grey and black scales with an overall brumal touch, high up to the chin bell shaped cuts with drapery and vertical zippers as striking feature almost contradicts collection #8 with its rather bright colors endorsing a palette of blue, from light to royal to marine, set in contrast with white. This collection calls on geometric aspects with a focus on the human waist and collars with a hint of regimentals/tuxedo cut.

“Rad by Rad Hourani” tends more towards styles with a casual fit. Again collection #2 and #3 are kept in black and black& grey with a little bit of everything: futuristic, chic, eccentric, mainstream, modern.
In finding a way to express himself, fashion is not the only path Rad Hourani has chosen, he also relates to the fields of photography, art, film, writing, architecture and music: Hourani truly defines our thoughts of “no boundaries”.
