“Jean” Clock by Pierre Favresse

Time for a minimalist treat: the “Jean” Clock by Pierre Favresse is our latest fancy in the design realm. This sexy French artist took a pledge against fast-forwarding our lives; we love the end result!

The considerations behind the unique design are closely linked to the idea of time as the most fragile, volatile and delicate coordinate of our existence. The simplicity of its built encourages the possessor to start beholding time in a more relaxed manner and accept the challenge of its passage, more naturally and lightheartedly. We’re almost always too busy planning out our lives way ahead; we get tied down by intricate schedules and end up doing everything on the run. Hence, more often then not, the mere sight of a clock is enough to make us nauseated. With “Jean”, there are no numbers or annoying ticking to torment you! As the artist likes to put it, “Jean” resembles a “delicate white cloud of glass”. I like to regard it as a time capsule.

As you might have guessed, the mode of production of this item is just as particular as the object itself: every clock is the result of a single blow in molten glass, performed by a gaffer. Consequently, every piece is unique and special, varying in size and vaguely in shape.

The artist got his stroke of inspiration from the Napoleonic clocks beneath glass bells and adapted the whole concept to the fast-paced 21st century and its deluxe aesthetic requirements.
