Coffee table 01

A sculpture coming from another planet? A face with two eyes and an open mouth?
This piece of art is “simply” a coffee table. It is the work of Daphna Laurens, a duo of two designers (Daphna Isaacs Burggraaf and Laurens Manders) who studied at the Eindhoven Design Academy, also called the Dutch School of Design. Their talent has already been recognized in 2010, when they won the “Three out of Ten” DMY Award at Berlin.
They are based in the Netherlands, where they have just realized their “Cirkel” collection. For the later, they played with basic circular forms to create lightings, tables and other objetcs, inspired by the Bauhaus movement.
We love this coffee table because it is beautiful, it is convenient, it is original and it is modern. Its shapes and the material used are just amazingly blending together. You can easily put your coffee cups (the function number one of a coffee table!) and other things on the flat surface, and anything you want to hide or store in the conic foot of the table. Genius idea!
