Ludovic Jacqz
is a 32 year-old French illustrator and conceptual artist, based in Bordeaux. He describes himself as a “self-made illustrator, Lowbrow art and antiques lover” who teaches in an art school since a year now.
He is an amazing Photoshop illustrator; he started drawing since young age, but discovered PS only few years ago. His drawings have a mixture of artists’ styles, but most of all Japanese animation. Jacqz has an affinity towards portraying melancholy young females with gemstone eyes details in dreamlike atmosphere. This Asian influence seems to also create a contemporary style mixing it with the popular tattoo art of today. At first sight the vividly painted dolls may seem a bit creepy as they appear as quite cynical, but then you seem to not want to stop looking. It may be very cliché but the eyes draw you in with these images and then keep you in using the color, peculiar body forms and structure. They are beautifully illustrated using Photoshop with delicate textures, but bold images.
Jacqz works in watercolors, markers, paints, crayons and Bic, Illustrator and, of course, Photoshop.
