Christina Vrabtcheva

With her unusual career shift, this former Bulgarian architect recently emerged into the Fashion world with a very promising first collection. Although working as freelance architect for ten years, her archiskills definitely come out in her Fashion collection Heart of Stone. Through her meticulous handling and folding of delicate materials such as mousseline de soie and chiffon, Christina brings movement and dimension around women garments.  With very dull and emotionless colors, the designer ties deeper meaning to her creations.

The collection is said to analyze the crucial and central role of women in today’s society. Notions such as envy, punishment, beauty and immortality are all expressed throughout her work. The collection’s name is said to recall everyday life’s sins, such as vanity and jealousy which all “turn the heart into stone”. Christina Vrabtcheva’s work has been recently exposed in a photo shoot, Once upon a Stone, by Addminimal creative studio. The sandy and bleached make-up and emotionless pictures, perfectly portrays the collection, which is said to be inspired by Greek Myths and their thoughts about destiny and women. Heart to Stone is Christina’s final project at Domus Academy in Milan, where she has been undertaking a Master in Fashion Design ever since she was discovered during the “Glocal Beauty” International Competition.
