Toyota NS4
Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the Toyota NS4 is a plug-in hybrid concept car with the ability to show off the potential of Toyota within the field of eco-friendly vehicles. The renown Japanese producer is expecting to market these brilliant ecological machines starting from 2015.
The style of the car marks a change within the original offer of the company: Toyota is proposing a vehicle with a more dynamic and sporty shape, including a more aggressive frontal line, which is aimed at creating that unique emotional bond between the car and the driver. As for the insides of the car, Toyota has invested in developing a new user interface together with Microsoft, Intel and Salesforce with the purpose to create a human machine interface centered around an intuitive multi-touch screen. This touch screen will be capable to rapidly generate information, thus avoiding any possible distraction for the driver, whilst being able to manage all the additional functions of the car – such as audio, air conditioning, and navigation amongst others.
The NS4 also has several advanced safety features, such as a next-generation pre-collision system to inform driver about potential hazards, adaptive beam headlights that allow near-high-beam illumination without blinding oncoming traffic and blind spot monitor. Moreover, the glass of the windshield is treated in order to offer a better performance in rainy and foggy conditions. All in all, the compact dimensions of the structure, the light weight and the technological features allow for maximization of the performance and the fuel economy of the vehicle, defining a truly next-generation kind of vehicle.
To say it in the words of Jim Lentz, president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor Sales USA, “the automobile is being reinvented because its role in our lives is being redefined”.
