RakE

A new offer by Opel that still invites us to “live their cars”, but this time is an eco-friendly innovation. From now to 2014 Opel has matured the willing to launch 30 new car models, not simply restyles but advanced electric cars with an unconventional design. Like RAKe, the electric-powered concept that has four wheels, a motor and a steering wheel, but that’s about all it visibly shares with a common car. The appearance is that of a spaceship on wheels, presented as a revolutionary vehicle that pushes beyond the conception of what can be done for urban mobility.

RAKe is an amazing two-seater city car that promises to travel 100 km with the cost of just one Euro, weighs a third of a modern small car and can reach 120 km/h in less than 13 seconds. It has the mechanic beauty of a motorcycle, and a young and fresh appearance all these advantages at a super reasonable deliver price so that even younger customers can afford it. RAKe restrained costs are due also to its steel and carbon fiber structure. Opel deliberately avoided the use of expensive composite materials in its lightweight-design philosophy, in order to make electric mobility affordable for as many people as possible. Moreover, with great foresight, the German designers are also thinking of a limited speed of 45-km/h version, suitable for sixteen-years-old drivers. Around three meters long and 119 cm high, the aerodynamic RAKe offers zero-emission driving. After charging the battery for three hours, the experimental vehicle can travel up to 100 km. Due to the combination of low weight, minimal frontal area, low rolling resistance, and highly efficient electric propulsion.

Thanks to these fantastic features in just one vehicle, all we can do is wait to see many RAKes on our roads soon.
