The Cocoon by Camenzind Evolution
On a beautifully surrounded hillside perfectly bathing in sunlight, “The cocoon” has enriched Zurich’s landscape. The Swiss so called “Seefeld Quarter” offered a perfect location with its green oasis. The elliptical building is set in a way it allows for a magnificent view on the Zurich Lake. The background scenery of mountains creates a surreal environment.
The cocoon covered with a veil-like steel mesh screen thereby permitting some sort of privacy rises elegantly from the ground in a spiraling manner. This seemingly endlessly spiraling hallway in its elliptical shape encompasses an atrium which widens as we move upwards the rising ramp. The sky roof at the upper opening of the atrium lets in natural sunlight which in combination with the white or generally bright based interior lightens up the entire internal space.
The open space allows for a variety of workspace. On top of all this distinct design, with its environmentally friendly heating and cooling system the cocoon doesn’t only provide a pure perfection for the eye but also a pure inculpable feeling in the midst of a park-like landscape.
