Emma Yeo with Corrie Nielsen

The clothes may be the main reasons  as to why most people want to attend a fashion show at first, but often the accessories leave them breathless and help the collection become well-rounded. This being said, London-based milliner Emma Yeo is ‘the one to blame’ for the marvellous headwear seen on Corrie Nielsen’s fashion show ’’Vectarium Scotium’’ during London Fashion Week 2012.

Yeo launched this headwear collection named ’’Solitary Motion’’ in collaboration with Nielsen, and it drew inspiration from Scottish bonnets adorned with pheasant feathers. The ready-to-wear collection was a homage to Scottish style and therefore the hats followed the theme, but we could definitely feel Yeo’s artistic sensibility. Her recognizable head accessories were fit in well with tartan apparel. Apart from the laser-cut wood, her signature and favorite material, luxury silks, leather and black dyed pheasant feathers were used as well. The stunning pieces in midnight blue provide a dramatic and mystical look, but the most bewildering headpieces are those that aren’t painted on, and one can tell that they are undoubtedly wooden. This is a big step forward in the accessories industry -and this bold move is certainly pushing the boundaries.

Emma Yeo makes sure that her signature material, laser-cut wood, is always the key part and, this time, it was successfully adapted to the whole story. This main concept resulted in dramatic and striking headpieces which proved that a hat plays more than just a supporting role in the business of fashion.
