Ermanno Scervino AW 2012
As the dashing equestrian muses started strolling nonchalantly down the runway, the audience grew hungrier with excitement and anticipation. In a hypnotic swirl of rich earth tones, Ermanno Scervino has both redefined equestrian elegance and added a whole new luster to aristocratic hunting gear. The artist brought into the spotlight a fantastic mélange of long-lost statuesque-inspired silhouettes and classical British chic cuts, portraying an impeccably refined, yet sensuous and alluring woman.
With next season putting great emphasis on delicate waistlines and elongated figures, this designer made no exception from the trend and devoted his collection to ultra feminine shapes and cuts. Throughout his presentation, the creator exhibited a playful reinterpretation of volumes, such that every outfit would embellish a stylized hourglass figure. He caused quite a stir among the ladies in the audience with his tulip dresses and egg-shaped skirts. However, what really caught everyone’s attention were the pants!
Making a fabulous comeback for the harem pants, Ermanno Scervino knew where to place all his bets: considering they were such a hit the past few seasons, and that many fashionistas cannot give them up just yet, he decided to take these trousers to a whole new level and use leather as base material for the cut. The result was a truly unique, luxurious piece which could instantly transform any outfit into super polished and sexy.
Also, the color palette he chose for them added a quirky twist to the entire collection: the muddy, combat green was a huge win, alongside with the deep, yummy, chocolate browns.
The designer proved once more his affinity towards luxury and timeless style, finding new, imaginative ways to tailor leather and fur. From leather pants, to plaid leather skirts and body-hugging leather dresses, he flaunted them all under the mesmerized looks of the public. Paired up with boucle trench coats and bouffant-sleeve blazers, there’s no question that the styling was truly exquisite and diverse. Chiffon see-through tops offered us a glimpse of modern goddess perfection, while oversized fur coats daintily covered the marble skin, inciting the viewers. Well-chosen accessories were definitive for illustrating the concept in the most adequate manner.
Horse-riding helmets and boots gracefully completed the outfits. Toward the end of the show, we could notice a change of pace and a subtle shift in the style of each outfit, such that soon, the catwalk was invaded by a sea of evening wear items. Organza mini dresses resembling budding roses made quite an impact through their apparent fragility and translucency. The intricate macramé and sequin gowns to close the show were an excellent choice; they spoke immensely through their sheer beauty.
