Nissan DeltaWing
It sure looks like a rocket – and by the looks of a recently uploaded clip on Youtube, the new Deltawing prototype by Nissan also sounds like one. This brand new concept car is super narrow in the front, giving the vehicle a definitely unique look. The car was built by Dan Gurney’s All-American Racers and Ben Bowlby, former Lotus Cars chief designer, designed almost totally by computers, with Michelin playing a big role in the development.
This bewildering creature is going to produce an impressive 300 horsepower pulled by a roaring 1.6 liters, four cylinder, race prepared engine. “As motor racing rulebooks have become tighter over time, racing cars look more and more similar and the technology used has had less and less relevance to road car development,” said Nissan boss , Andy Palmer at the world premiere in Sebring, Florida.
Nissan is going to showcase this pioneering technology on track at the 2012 Le Mans 24 hours, in which it won’t be classified. The Deltawing is conceived to enlighten a new path in race car design. With this slim and total-black silhouette, Nissan shows the world how a racing car’s design can be both futuristic and useful.
And for all of you asking, no, this won’t be the new Batmobile.
