830 SIGN
Remember when the clothes we used to purchase seemed to last for the longest time? Remember when the quality of materials and details were important?
The brand 830 Sign wants to bring us back to those times, mainly by designing high quality garments that last. 830 Sign merges innovation and craftsmanship, heritage and cutting edge, using exclusive fabrics and yarns, unique technologies and precious details.
Evolving from a denim company, 830 Sign is an emerging brand established in Italy in 2008. Initially launched with individual items, in 2011 it debuted its first ready to wear collection, inheriting the manufacturing experience from the past generation. All of the pieces are made in Italy, working with important Italian and Japanese suppliers for the fabrics. 830 Sign is a young brand founded by two high-school friends with very different backgrounds, Giulia and Mariavittoria. Giulia is an extroverted and positive woman who’s more in love with the refinement and quality of materials, than with the fashion trends proposed by magazines. Mariavittoria is more discreet, shy and with a strong passion for design and fashion. Passion that she eventually transformed into a real job after graduating from IED and working as assistant designer at Jil Sander. It was finally fate to bring the two girls together again, several years later at a party, and it was from there that the 830 Sign project began.
For the SS2012 collection the inspiration comes from a photo shoot that bore witness to the dramatic eruption of the volcano in Merapi, in southern Sumatra, and from the silhouettes of the 20’s. Strokes of light and transparencies, fine dust covering and contaminating a colored and bright background. Ash seems to have covered everything, revealing the bloom of spring. Everything appears to lead to a game of see-trough, of overlap that creates layers, volumes and new shades. This collection was designed with architecture and clean lines in mind, using intricate textures and soft tailored shapes. One can perceive the stiffness of fabrics and at the same time the lightness of the yarns, which adhere to the body and show the outlines.
The last FW2012/2013 collection, instead, is all about contemporary art, movement, fragmentation and fading . 830 Sign woman searches in her clothes the same change that she perceives outside, mixing different fabrics and different colors with ease. Denim, silk and wool has to be matched merging navy, powdery grey, bold peacock blue and a touch of paprika. Emphasis is placed on the shoulders and waist, evoking a quote of the 80’s shapes and creating sinuous and austere silhouettes.
Given the excellence and the quality of work performed up to now, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
