Timothy Reynolds

If you have ever wondered what the doodles of a conceptual artist look like, then you will probably remain fascinated by Timothy Reynold's work. This exhibit designer and 3D illustrator, based in Milwaukee, WI, works for a large marketing firm. However, apart from client work, his various self-initiated projects aided in his recognition within professional circles.

The first things one notices in Reynold’s artistic approach is the fullness of architectural details (his area of study) and live, bright colors. He is very proficient in creating abstract scenes that can be differently interpreted by each observer. It is believed that every designer gives his work a hidden meaning and sends a certain message, but the big plus is when he leaves the audience enough space to understand it subjectively. This artist is very successful at it and he gives his personal touch and concept to each creation.

The designer’s 3D illustrations are often rendered landscapes with lots of carefully selected details (frequently geometric ones) and catchy notes or messages, such as “This is going to suck”, and “Leave a trail”. His drawings are rather colorful with rich variety of forms, and sometimes, creative solutions for the architecture of the future are proposed. Given that many projects are followed by comic-style storylines, the artworks are funny and appealing.

One cannot overlook Reynold’s original sketchnotes that arose from his “creative doodling”. Namely, guided by his own motto, “Meetings were made for doodles”, he takes sketchnotes at meetings he attends. This resulted in his participation in The Sketchbook project 2011, where thousands of people showcased their work traveling across America. With this, he encourages other people to accept this way of entertainment as some kind of art.
