Club Haus ’80 by Riccardo Demartini

In simple and brief terms, Milan is synonymous to elegance, excitement and glamour for those who come for work and leisure throughout the year. However, amidst the upscale allure so typical of  Milan, the residents of the city constantly find new forms of entertainment sparked by the creative and ambitious talents of those who live here and wish to bring exciting novelties to the table.

This is where the story of Club Haus 80’s begins.

Bummed out by the repetitive routines involved in clubbing, four Italian party planners pledged to take the “ordinary night out” to the next level and bring back the fun of disco from wherever it was hiding. Taking inspiration from what was probably the best decade of the 20th century, Club Haus brings people together for a frenzy of fun. Along with the lively crowd and a playlist worth gold, there's Riccardo Demartini:  photographer, videographer, art director and a true, versatile artist, to capture all the best moments on film.

It goes without saying that the beautiful clientele and amusing dress codes aid Demartini in terms of unique subjects and settings. However, his energy and passion transform these nightlife pictures into great artistic shots, reviving the mood and fun from the night before.

It is no wonder that fashion photography and abstract artists are at the base of Demartini's work. He can combine the sleek sexuality found in Richardson's work with a Dalì-like ironic statement  whilst capturing an image the way it is: grasping the  essence of the ambient in a magical way. His best pictures seem to tell the viewer an amusing secret that everyone can understand and participate in.

Demartini's work at Club Haus is fundamental: he documents every aspect of the delirious fun, be it a sultry sun-kissed model purposefully posing in Ibiza, or a couple of fluorescent adolescents rocking out in neon in Milan. Clearly, his pictures also give away tid-bits of his laidback personality: extroverted, friendly and eccentric. As one flicks through the images, one cannot ignore the attitude and lively aesthetics dripping through the lines, that scream "cool".
