The 2012 edition of the famous Latin American fashion show, Colombiamoda, has reserved some interesting surprises. This fashion show, a good occasion for well known brands and emerging designers to promote their own creations in the market and establish, cure, reinforce relations with clients, is considered to be the cradle of new ideas and new trends.
Particular interest has been excited by Agua Bendita, Colombian swimwear company, co-founded in 2003 by Catalina Álvarez and Mariana Hinestroza and become, in just seven years, one of the fastest growing swimwear brands in the world. During this lapse of time, this name has been constantly associated with innovativeness and modernity applied to the genuine Colombian garments. Nevertheless, what really distinguishes this company is the combination of laser cutting with high quality, imported products and materials, as well as the employment of the ability of Colombian artisans, who, coupled with the brand’s designers, have been able to create hand-made pieces based on traditional handcrafts giving a vanguard touch. Colombiamoda 2012 has been the perfect stage for the presentation of the 2013 collection, denominated “Lovely Heroes”: this collection was inspired by seven hundred men and women who work with diligence on each hand made piece of this brand. Seven hundred hearts, artisans, families collaborating with the co-founders for the creation of unique and forward-looking garments. “They are our lovely heroes, the muscle and soul of our brand”, says Catalina.
The heroes inspiration is translated into three different thematic styles applied to garments, Riding The Desert (Cowboy), Coming To Your Rescue (Militar) and Glowing Stars (Neon colors), with a constant attention for embellishment of each piece with beads, appliques and sequins to get a unique, glamorous and fascinating look, the one that catches the attention. In this collection, sequins are well mixed with a masculine look given by the military and cowboy styles; the application of fringes is massive, and colors are vivid and flashy, loud, funny, even if black is a recurring tonality.
The exclusiveness of the design, as well as the quality of every single material used are the key distinguishing factors of this collection, so far a recurring source of added value for this promising brand, which has been able to catch the attention of the top magazines, runways, international tradeshows.
