Inner City Vehicle by Sean Seongjun Ko

Having in mind the increasingly crowded environment of modern cities, in which 70% of the entire population is expected to live by 2050, designer Sean Seongjun Ko has thought to a smart solution for urban transportation not only environmentally acceptable, but also capable of creating an emotional bond between the users and the environment.

The project aimed to develop a car able to provide an efficient, sustainable and intelligent solution to access inner city areas. In the future, in fact, the current trend of limiting access to central areas of cities is expected to increase and, in that scenario, in these areas will be allowed just cycles, public transports, emergency vehicles, and some passenger vehicles, which are compact, clean and quiet.

Inner City Vehicle with its retro look is, indeed, a zero emission car. It is a four seater car that runs on hydrogen fuels cell, by emitting just water vapor from its exhaust pipe. The open space of the vehicle allows passengers to interact with the urban environment as a mobile pavilion, the interior space is very flexible and variable and also seating layout differs from traditional cars where every passenger faces single direction.

Sean Seongjun Ko, describing the concept of the interiors, says:
“The interior design of the vehicle takes inspiration from wavy and sliced sculptures. Each sliced part has different curves and combination of these parts creates different forms, which allow different sitting positions and application of various materials.”

With its modernity and sleek design Inner City Vehicle is able to represent a “carriage” of the future with which people can move across central areas, experiencing the beauties of the ever changing cities.
