Davide Varenna

Davide Varenna, born in 1989, is a young promising talent, currently studying at the Hochshule of Pforzheim, Germany, in the Master of Arts in Transportation Design and formerly involved in an undergraduate bachelor in Product Design at Politecnico of Milan.

During his academic career, he has been involved in several high profile sponsored projects that hinted at names such as Audi, BMW and Ferrari.

Audi 2lip is the project made by Davide during the first semester of his Master. The aim of the project was to create an auto for 2050, especially designed for elderly people. To fulfill this goal, Audi 2lip revolutionizes the way in which people can get into car: that vehicle, in fact, opens softly like a flower to allow to the passengers to reach easily their seats. Also the structure is made to transmit the idea of protection with a solid and embracing design, which also permits to have a great view, thanks to the transparent surface that runs around the vehicle.

Davide has also participated to several competitions and collected two victories, one in 2006 at “Stile italiano” Giovani competition, obtaining the Auto&Design Award, and another one in 2009, winning in the Urban Cars/Suv at the “Autostyle” competition. The latter was obtained with a project for Nissan, which was demanding the elaboration of a special version of a sport car or a urban car/SUV. The result was a lifeguard version of the Nissan Qazana concept, with bigger wheels and a particular structure capable of making possible to use the SUV also on the sand.

From his projects emerge the willingness to create designs that enhance the aesthetic component of the vehicle, but always preserving the identity of the car and of the car manufacturer. This process of aesthetic transformation is always smart, whilst having in mind to improve the functionality along with the beauty of the design.
