Nike Vapor Laser Talon
The pursuit for perfect sporting performance is not always just a matter of physical abilities. Without any doubt, the physical features of an athlete keep on being essential, but thanks to the development of technology, also sportswear can surprise us and help us to improve our skills. This is the concept behind the development of the most important sportswear brands, and Nike can give us an outstanding example of it with the Nike Vapor Laser Talon.
With more than 40 years of athlete insights and innovation across sport, Nike designers teamed with gold medal sprinter Michael Johnson to fulfill this project. “Nike’s new 3D printed plate is contoured to allow football athletes to maintain their drive position longer and more efficiently, helping them accelerate faster” said Johnson.
With its revolutionary 3D printed plate and a weight of less than 150 grams, these shoes will help football athletes perform at their best, providing optimal traction on football turf.
The plate of the cleat is made using Selective Laser Sintering technology, a manufacturing technique that uses high-powered lasers to fuse small particles of materials into a three-dimensional shape. This technique allows to create shapes not possible in traditional manufacturing processes, providing also the chance to make design updates within hours instead of months.
Nike shows again to be able to listen the needs of the athletes and to keep investing in the research and development of new technologies, pushing human boundaries even further and unveiling the entire human potential.
